Diaper cream, reclaiming the American flag, and Kristin Wiig as your pilates instructor
ICYMI, I launched YouStudio last month! In addition to access to 400+ on demand Helen Phelan Studio classes, YouStudio members get:
-1 30-minute kick-off postural assessment and goal-setting session (worth $85)
-1 weekly 50 min live virtual private training session (worth $155/session)
-Recordings of each live virtual session in case you want to repeat your 1:1. As uncomfy as it is to see yourself working out on video — literally tell me about it 😵 — the knowledge you gain about your tendencies and compensations is invaluable to improving your form (priceless)
-Your very own Personalized Pilates cheat sheet doc updated every week with notes from your session, session recordings, timestamps for you to turn your recording into a shorter session, suggested HPS on-demand videos for each week, and if relevant, a suggested schedule for you to help you blend in other IRL classes you might do (worth $100)
-Ongoing text message access during weekday working hours to ask questions about the technique and even shoot me clips of you trying any moves that gave you some trouble for extra form feedback between sessions (worth $100/week)
$935/month → $500/month (3 month commitment) for weekly privates sessions or
$467/month → $250/month (3 month commitment) for every other week private sessions
I was able to open up my schedule to take on 3 more 1:1 clients for either the weekly membership or the every other week membership, but once those spots are full, I won’t be taking new 1:1 clients until the end of June— so email me at hi@helenphelanstudio.com or reply to this email to book!
Shop
Anthropologie Blouse: Can’t tell you how pleased I am peplum has made a resurgence. We deserve this.
Areaware Paper Towel Holder: *cries in Brooklyn apartment that doesn’t even have enough counter space for a paper towel holder*
Amazon Sweatsuit: An impulse purchase I made recently and let me tell you I was STUNNED at how soft it is. I’ve only worn it out once and got 3 compliments and it’s cozy as hell.
Lack of Color Cove Straw Bucket Hat: We’re going back to Corsica in June and mentally I’m there already in this hat with a glass of rosé in hand. Alternatively, I’m loving this Madewell one in a darker color.
J.Crew Cropped Patch Pocket Shirt: I’ve been uploading my whole wardrobe to the Indyx App (use code: helenvphelan for $10 at sign-up) and feeling very Cher in Clueless-like, I have realized that I have an overabundance of short sleeved button downs…so, I had to do some breathing exercises to prevent myself from adding this to my cart…BUT I LOVE.
Sudocrem Antiseptic Cream: I’ll admit I bought this $13 diaper cream after watching a Tiktok by Dr. Shireen Idriss and was very skeptical but was actually quite pleased with it. You use it as a final step at night (it leaves a thick white film, so, you don’t wanna go out in public and you’ll need to give your skin time to absorb it before going to bed to not make your pillows sticky). I was breaking out all around my chin near my period and I swear it sped the healing time along. Plus, I am team drugstore product for as many things as I can.
Uniqlo Wide Straight Leg Jean: I am ever on a journey to find straight leg jeans that are actually straight and not skinny on my wide calves and these fit the bill— I also wanted to dip my toes back into the cuffed look but was apprehensive about spending a lot of money on jeans that are super long in case I had a millennial Y2k style trauma flashback but these were such a good price and I’m happy with them. I sized down to a 25 but am normally a 26, for reference.
W. Concept Couch Cushion: As the proud mother of a black pittie mix and as a white couch owner, I am forever in search of cushion protection that doesn’t make me depressed. Haven’t pulled the trigger on this because it’s not the right dimensions for my couch but I love this idea.
Sézane Ewan Jacket: Tbh this skews a little more boho than I usually vibe with but something about the Sézane styling and marketing makes me want to add everything to cart and forget who I am.
CRZ Yoga Butterluxe Flare Jumpsuit: Speaking of Y2k trauma…fellow long torso-ed gals, rejoice! The fabric rivals lulu aligns and the adjustable straps make it actually wearable. Am literally wearing it right now as I type this newsletter and it’s comfy to the skin and I’m not on the verge of revealing camel, nor nip.
