Things to buy:
Pleased as punch with the gamble I made on this runner from Etsy— it’s so cushy and makes my generic rental kitchen feel a bit more *me*. It’s a little uneven but it’s handmade, so it adds to it’s charm.
I know it’s November now but I’m still on my witchy chick lit bullshit— I finished Her Majesty’s Royal Coven in just a few days and now have an enormous list of witchy titles to get through via Bookshop.
The last thing I need is another black shoe but…these Target boots remind me of this much more expensive pair and this even more expensive pair.
Speaking of black boots— if you follow me on Tiktok you know I’ve been searching for a pair of knee-high leather boots that will fit around my strong calves (15.5in wide). Not an easy feat and I’ve been doing a series of videos of ones I’ve tried to save you time if you too have years and years of relevés to blame for not being able to participate in fall footwear fashion. I finally found a flat lug sole option in real leather under $200 at NA-KD! I LOVE THEM. They seem to be out of stock in the black but here’s the reference to keep an eye on if you’re interested. (Cream is in stock!)
I’m in the beginning stages of curating a vinyl collection and this mahogany version of Blondie’s latest masterpiece is on my Xmas list.
I’ve been on the hunt for a leather belt with gold hardware that doesn’t look cheap (I only have silver belts somehow and while I’m pro power clashing, as an all gold jewelry girly it feels off sometimes). Thinking of adding this Sezane beaut to cart.
I’ve prob already shared about this but I’m on my 3rd refill and I can’t get enough of this Golde Coconut Collagen Boost Creamer— I don’t care that the science about collagen is iffy or if it’s doing absolutely nothing to my hair/skin/nails but GOOD LORD DOES IT TASTE INCREDIBLE. I can’t drink coffee without it now.
I love how much bigger this clear shower curtain from Quiet Town makes my tiny Brooklyn bathroom seem— I kind of wish I was the type of person to choose a Bauhaus-y bright pop of color but alas, I’m nothing if not a neutrals gal. A bonus is that I can now watch Gilmore Girls while in the shower. PS these are the hooks I got to match.
Stay tuned for next month’s addition which will be a gift guide!
Things to read (or listen to):
It’s seasonal depression season! Here’s how The NYT recommends fighting it.
Ironically, one of the most common conversations I have with my friends is how hard it is to make new friends as a grown up. Here’s how, apparently.
One of my biggest beefs about the fitness industry as it exists under capitalism is that the traditional approach is to encourage more is better in order to get more clients and more moolah, and even though this might be bad for biz, after a certain point, enough exercise is enough. More is not better.
Other Substacks I’m Loving Right Now:
^this felt like reading my mind (as I pondered last month on Tiktok)— the whole hot girls have stomach problems joke on tiktok is funny and makes you feel less alone if you take it surface level…but if we investigate that a little more, it’s hard to deny that the people we think are hot are thin and thin people often do whatever it takes to stay that way even if it means schmisordered schmeating. the venn diagram of hot girls with stomach trouble and girls with questionable eating habits is not a circle….but I’m willing to bet it’s not a SMALL overlap…
