Good sh*t | October 2022
A few things that will make you less sad the days are getting shorter, maybe.
Buy these (or admire from afar):
I don’t have another free surface to add another table lamp, but if I did, it’d be this one from Hay.
I have a bit of a hoarding problem with transitional coats, made even worse by the fact that NYC weather only allows a few weeks where they’re functional but I’ve coveted this quilted one from Frankie Shop for a few seasons now and just thought I’d pass along this PSA that there are a ton on Poshmark rn. V Autumnal.
Everytime I borrow one of my husband’s clothing items I think “Oh, this is gonna be so cute and oversized!” only to put it on and it fits me perfectly. C’est la vie. The original Saint James marinière is one of my fave tops to steal (he wears a men’s medium and apparently so do I—though I also own it this version in a 36 in the women’s cut, I couldn’t resist the elbow patches!).
I am here for the J.Crew renaissance under Olympia Gayot. She said she wears these chinos 2 sizes up and belted, so I also bought army pants and flip flops.
By the grace of Goddess, I found this exact pair of Docs, BRAND NEW at Beacon’s Closet for $10 years ago and I wear them so much I’d willingly pay full price. Perfect for cutting the girliness of sundresses to bring em into fall.
I searched high and low for a coffee table tray that didn’t cost as much as my coffee table and am quite pleased with this Amazon find.
Turns out reading is a lot more fun when you let go of the internalized misogyny that kept you from reading “chick lit”. My strategy to avoid seasonal depression this year is to just gaslight myself into believing it’s still summer, starting with Beach Read, which I read in 3 days.
As the sun sets earlier and earlier I am pretending I am still in Corsica on my honeymoon by making admiring the beautiful recipes in this stunning cookbook.
A free app, but a priceless one! Wondering why no one thought of Flush, an app for finding public restrooms, sooner. NYC is notoriously a dead zone for public potties and I just KNOW this is going to save my life one of these days.

This Tedtalk on maximizing data from our fitness trackers makes me want the Oura ring even more now—get this girl a sponsorship!
I felt so liberated being largely offline during my wedding/honeymoon that I’m experimenting with different time blocking apps to save me from myself. Please comment and let me know if you’ve tried any of these!
On that note, I’ve just added this to my iPad library: How To Be Online And Also Be Happy.
Bi Visibility Day was last month but, spoiler, I wrote this newsletter a few weeks in advance and so it was top of mind. For anyone in their feels about the layers of their identity, Greedy: Confessions of a Bisexual Who Wants Too Much made me feel very seen and whole—especially after my beautiful, perfect, fairy tale wedding to a…dude.
Turns out, mirrors are not so great for your sense of self! Big fan of this Atlantic piece on how to be less self-centered from the creator of another pod I subscribe to: How To Build A Happy Life.
Despite the wishlist shared above, I’m currently trying to do a no/low buy Autumn (which is decidedly less fun than Meg Ryan Fall and NOT helping with the post-wedding blues, let me tell ya) but I am ravenously consuming Tiktok content on the 3 word method for defining your personal style. It’s a creative outlet that’s helping me edit my wardrobe and fall in love with older pieces again. My current words for Fall/Winter when I’m not in stretchy pants are: classic | edgy | androgynous. Subject to change come. Get sucked in with this Glamour article…
