I’ve gotten a few emails from new Helen Phelan Studio on demand members asking for recommendations lately…so I decided to share my list of fave pilates toys for an at home practice.
Just like a cute lil matching set can get you into the zone with the help of enclothed cognition, having some beautiful design-y workout equipment helps you step into a world you want to step into when you unroll your mat, and can be one of a a few strategies to help get you a bit more amped to move your body.
Disclaimer: you definitely don’t NEED fancy props (or fancy clothes) to get a good sweat. Duh.
In fact, you can filter by equipment/bodyweight on HPS anyway, so you’ll never have a hard time finding a class you can do if it’s you, yourself, and your mat, but there is a little special something about having some special items that make your space feel special (and your muscles shake).
Without further adieu, here’s a list of props I’d advise you to get if you were my client…I’ve included the design geek version and budget friendly versions of each item so you have options!
